A thyme infusion is prepared with 1-2 grams of the dried plant, and can help with coughs and colds. Traditionally, this herb is considered invigorating, digestive and spasmolytic, while when applied externally, it is also antiseptic.

In cooking, thyme is astringent and intensely aromatic with a very strong flavor. In the Greek cuisine, it is added as a spice in meatballs, stuffed vegetables, meat, poultry and pies. Thyme can generally be combined with meat (chicken, beef, rabbit) cooked in tomato and wine sauce and can also accompany soups, roasts, sauces. It can even be used in confectionary and baking.
